New Associate Pastor Announcement

The Pastor-Parish Relations Committee is excited to announce that Bishop Cynthia Fierro Harvey will appoint Rev. Bertrand Griffin II as an Associate Pastor to Broadmoor United Methodist Church beginning July 2017.

Rev. Griffin will serve as the Pastor of Discipleship, Compassion, and Justice. As Pastor of this new ministry area, Rev. Griffin will supervise the Directors of Children and Youth Ministries and the Coordinator of Compassion and Justice Ministry. Rev. Griffin will focus on developing an overall plan for children, youth, and adults that leads to growing in Christ's likeness and a life of compassion and justice in our community. He will also provide leadership in weekly worship services, including preaching six to eight times a year.

Rev. Bertrand Griffin II was born in Franklinton, Louisiana to Rev. Bertrand Griffin and Mrs. Marian Heath Griffin. Baton Rouge was his home for most of his formative years. He is a graduate of Dillard University in New Orleans with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, and Gammon Theological Seminary/ITC in Atlanta with a Master of Divinity degree.

After graduating from Dillard University, he was employed as a chemist and manager with Westinghouse, CH2M Hill, and other Department of Energy government contractors for almost 17 years until heeding God's call to go into the ministry.

Rev. Griffin was the pastor of Red Oak and Free Liberty United Methodist Churches in the Griffin, GA area for 3½ years. He also pastored St. Paul United Methodist Church in Shreveport for 2 years. He is currently the pastor of Gretna United Methodist Church. He has also been a mentor and Scoutmaster, working with African-American young men to develop future leaders. Rev. Griffin is the proud father of Nia Griffin, 18, and Kiara Griffin, 16, and is happily married to the Rev. Kotosha D. Griffin.
